Million Dollar Baby (2004)

I saw this film one month ago approximately on TV. Is a dramatic film directed by Clint Eastwood. This film won the academy award 2004. The film stars Clint Eastwood, Hilary Swank and Morgan Freeman.

The history tell about a woman Maggie Fitzgerald (Hilary Swank), a 31 years old waitress, that want to be a professional boxer. She trains daily in Frankie Dunn’s gym (Clint Eastwood) a famous trainer. She want to be trained by Dunn but he doesn’t train women. After a disappointment with another boxer disciple he decide to train Maggie. In the gym live and work Eddie "Scrap Iron" Dupris (Morgan Freeman) an ex-boxer, without a eye, and Dunn’s old friend.

Maggie train very hard with Dunn, win very much fights and earn very much money. Until that she compete for women's welterweight champion where her opponent make her a foul and she (Maggie) brake her neck. She will be paralysed forever.

The film tell us that Maggie’s family is crap. Her mother, brother and sister only want her money and when she find out this situation, she reject them when they go to visit her to the hospital. In this condition Maggie decide that she want to die and she ask to Dunn the euthanasia. Dunn doesn’t accept it but she make suicide attempt. Then he accept her petition very sad because he love her like a daughter. Dunn inject her adrenalin overdose. Eddie relate the end of the film where it seems that Dunn go to retire and give up boxing but it isn’t very clear.

Well in my opinion is a very sad film but is a good film, I recommend you.

Thanksgiving day

Is a traditional celebration in E.E.U.U. and falls on the fourth Thursday of November, a different date every year. It`s a special celebration where the family group together. The origin of this celebration is related with a english inmigrants called “pilgrims” that came to America in 1620 on a ship, “Mayflower”, and they arrived to Plymouth Rock, coast of Massachusetts, in December 11th . They went out from England because they had begun to question the belief of the church of England and they wanted to separate to it.

Their first winter in America was horrible, 46 of 102 passengers that arrived, died. Only the help that the 91 indians gave to them made posible their subsistence. Because of it the “Pilgrims” make in the next harvest a celebration to thank for thier help. This celebration converted in a tradition.

Familiar dinner

The traditional dish is a big roast turkey stuffing with maize bread. It comes with cranberry sauce and culin vegetables like green bean casserole, sweet potato and mashed potatoes with a sauce made with a turkey juice. Also is prepare pumpkin pie and apple pie.

Monkeys Use Baby Talk With Infants

Looking for in the web about animals’news I found in the National Geografic’website a news about monkeys. The article say about communication between mothers of Monkey Rhesus and theirs offspring. The female monkeys make vocalizations to get the attention of young monkeys. This behaviour is odd because the mothers use baby talk like the humans.

Dario Maestripieri, a study co-author and scientist at the University of Chicago, say that the female monkey use a particular monkey sound, the “girney”, when the young monkeys are around. Also they wag their tails to the babies. Baby talk is use by people all over the world because babies respond to it. This vocalization doesn’t seem mean anything.

In the text also is mentioned another use to the sounds. The female use it with other infant than their own maybe like a grooming of social relationships. This was said by Lisa Parr of Yerkes National Primate Center at Atlanta's Emory University.

Well this investigation is an interesting topic of animal’behaviour and here you have the link http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2007/08/070824-monkey-babytalk.html

One of my favorite websites is a blog call “Part of the queue”. It’s a anglo music’blog written by chileans and was created two years ago. Its name is a Oasis’song included in the last studio album of the band . I should add that Oasis is a 90’s english rock band and is my favorite band. I knew this blog a few months ago because a friend (Pía) told me about it. She listens only good music just like me. In the blog you can find news and pictures of anglo-bands. Also download links of albums, concerts, acoustic sessions, dvds, rares, etc. The blog link is http://partofthequeue.blogspot.com/search/label/Oasis and I recommend to visit it if you want to know about good anglo bands.
